Another False Panic Falls Over Facebook

Over the last few days, my Facebook newsfeed has been flooded with the same message.  Tens of my Facebook friends are once again copying and pasting a statement in order to notify other Facebook users of a new policy that will soon come to pass and to also protect themselves from its effects.

The statement starts by stating  “In response to the new Facebook guidelines I hereby declare that my copyright is attached to all of my personal details, illustrations, graphics, comics, paintings, photos and videos, etc. (as result of the Berner Convention).  For commercial use of the above my written consent is needed at all times!”Rest assured that your material is not in any new danger.  Facebook is still working under the same terms and conditions that you signed when you first signed up your account.  Much like the scare a few months back that, Facebook would begin to charge users for “gold accounts” this scare is probably nothing more than a prank.
